(Beaver Dam) A major street reconstruction project in Beaver Dam is set to begin this week. Crews will start work on West Street, extending from Haskell Street to West Third Street.
The scope of the project includes the complete reconstruction of the pavement and road base, curb and gutter, driveway aprons, sidewalk, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer. The city’s Director of Engineering Todd Janssen says while this will be a significant improvement to the neighborhood, they recognize construction is never convenient.
He adds that they thank residents and drivers impacted by the project for their patience and request respect for the crews at work. Construction hours are set from 7am to 7pm Monday through Friday. Street access will be limited throughout the duration of the construction period. Property owners are encouraged to consider finding alternative parking locations for the length of construction, but efforts will be made to minimize disruptions and maintain property access.
The project includes utility work, so installation of new water mains and laterals will require short-term water service shutoffs. Property owners will be given 24-hour notice. Temporary water discoloration may also occur for property owners in the immediate vicinity. Construction is expected to conclude in September, weather permitting.
