Welders, Electricians In High Demand

6/3/12 – For the second year in a row, a new survey shows that skilled trades like welders and electricians are the hardest jobs for the U-S employers to fill. Manpower Incorporated of Milwaukee has been surveying employers for seven years about their lack of qualified workers. And it shows that 49-percent of U-S companies are having difficulty filling what they call “mission-critical” positions because of a lack of trained candidates – or because many people don’t want those jobs. Manpower said other countries find it easier to recruit skilled workers. Thirty-four percent of employers around the globe are having a hard time filling critical jobs – 15-percent less than the U-S average. Employers in southeast Wisconsin have had trouble for several years filling skilled positions that include steam-fitters, brick-layers, tool-and-die-makers, and more. The Manpower survey showed that engineers are the second-toughest jobs to fill, followed by information technology workers, sales representatives, and accounting staffers.
