WDS Construction Celebrating 15 Years In Business

(Beaver Dam) A Beaver Dam-based contractor is celebrating its 15th year of business. WDS Construction – which serves 48 states and develops, manages and constructs commercial buildings – started in 2005 using the sewing room of founder Ben Westra’s parents’ home as its office.

The company’s humble beginnings started when Westra lefts his job in Pennsylvania and moved back to his home state with a construction project in hand. He hired a superintendent for the job as well as two family members to help with operations. Westra used the names from the three generations of family contractors before him – his great grandfather William, grandfather Dewey and father Steve – to names his business. Within a year and after three completed jobs, WDS’ opened up offices on Rowell Street in Beaver Dam.

In 2016 they constructed a 27-thousand square-foot, three-story cooperate headquarters on Tower Drive. Westra says the city of Beaver Dam has welcomed them and has continuously supported their 15 years of growth. He says their successes is a reflection of the hard work of their staff members. Today, WDS employees 75 people across the country, completed projects in 47 states, operates regional offices in Dallas and Texas and serves non-profits in the community via their benevolent arm WDS Works.
