9/26/17 – A Waupun Correctional Officer is accused of engaging in inappropriate behavior with an inmate. Melissa Fiedler is facing two felony counts of Second Degree Sexual Assault by Correctional Staff and Delivering Illegal Articles to an Inmate. In December, correctional officers were made aware that a prisoner was in possession of a cell phone. The phone reportedly contained several sexually explicit texts from a number reportedly belonging to Fiedler. Prosecutors say another inmate saw Fiedler engaging in sexual acts with the prisoner. When questioned, the 24-year-old initially denied the accusations but later allegedly admitted she texted the inmate. If convicted, Fiedler faces over 43 years in prison. An initial appearance is schedule for October 9.
