WBEV-WXRO Children’s Radiothon Reaching Milestone

3/29/17 – There will be ten, local non-profits benefitting from this year’s WBEV/WXRO Children’s Radiothon. The 27-hour marathon on-air auction raises funds for agencies that work with kids in the Dodge County area. Radiothon Organizer Sharon Rogowski says this year marks a milestone as the event celebrates its 20th anniversary. Rogowski says the 20th year is significant because it goes to show the dedication, generosity and support of local businesses and the community. The broadcast was started by Good Karma Brands CEO Craig Karmazin in 1997. To date, the Radiothon has raised $1.7-million dollars with the event pulling in over $106-thousand dollars last year alone. The ten organizations benefiting this year are PAVE People Against A Violent Environment, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dodge County, Green Valley Enterprises, YMCA of Dodge County, Clothes for Kids, the Watertown Family Center, The ARC Dodge County, Community Care Preschool and Child Care, the Beaver Dam Area Arts Association and – new this year – Church Health Services. The WBEV-WXRO Children’s Radiothon will begin at 6am on Thursday, June 22 and wrap-up on Friday, June 23 at 9am with Karmazin announcing the grand total.
