WBEV-WXRO Children’s Radiothon Agencies Presented Checks From 2018 Fundraiser

(Beaver Dam) The local agencies who were selected for this year’s WBEV-WXRO Children’s Radiothon received their checks on Tuesday. Eleven non-profits that work with children are splitting the $131-thousand dollars raised during this year’s 27-hour marathon broadcast. That number exceeds the previous record set last year at $126,852.74.

Each year, two organizations team up in an effort to raise the most money, with the coveted DCS-Cup going to the winner. This year ARC of Dodge County and Green Valley Enterprises (pictured below) took the top spot after raising more than $63-hundred dollars. Bernie Hafenstein with ARC of Dodge County thanked the Bayside Supper Club who has offered their establishment the last two-years for a fundraising event.

Radiothon Co-Chair Brenda Murphy offered appreciation to the community for showing their support. The eleven organizations benefiting are People Against A Violent Environment, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dodge County and the Watertown Community, Green Valley Enterprises, YMCA of Dodge County, Clothes for Kids, the Watertown Family Center, ARC Dodge County, Community Care Preschool and Child Care, the Beaver Dam Area Arts Association, Church Health Services and – new this year – CARE for Dodge County. Over 21 years, the event has raised just over $1.9-million dollars.
