WBEV Will Air Horicon At State Softball Tournament Tonight

The Horicon High School softball team heads to the WIAA State Softball Tournament for the ninth time in program history today.  The Marshladies face Iola-Scandinavia in a Division Four Semifinal at 6:30pm at Madison’s Goodman Diamond in a game you can hear on 1430 WBEV.

Horicon (17-6) knocked off #1 ranked and unbeaten Boscobel last week in the Sectional Final to earn the return trip to state.  Horicon finished 2nd in the Trailways South conference behind league champ Deerfield.

Iola-Scandinavia (15-6) edged Random Lake 6-5 to earn their first ever trip to the state softball tournament.  The Thunderbirds were runner-up in the Central Wisconsin East Conference behind Bonduel.

Horicon won WIAA Division Three State titles in 2002 & 2003 and brought home back to back D4 championships in 2018 & 2019.  They also made appearances at state in 1991, 1996, 2001, and 2011.

The winner of tonight’s game will face either Grantsburg or Onalaska Luther in the WIAA Division Four State Championship Game on Saturday morning at 10:30am.
