WBEV Named Station of the Year

(Beaver Dam) Your hometown station AM1430 WBEV fared well this weekend at the statewide radio and television awards. WBEV was named the Wisconsin Broadcaster’s Association 2021 Small Market Radio Station of the Year in a News-Talk Format. This was the seventh time WBEV has been named Station of the Year. In addition, DailyDodge was named the 2021 Small Market Digital Media Operation of the Year while our news team garnered statewide acclaim with the 2021 Small Market News Operation of the Year award.

Beaver Dam also took home 14 first place trophies in a variety of categories. It was a good year for our sister station 95x. Thomas Rehfeldt and Amy Hudson both collected first place hardware for interviews on the afternoon drive and Whiparound. Cale Zomer won the gold trophy for Best Specialty Program for his ‘21 in 21 New Year’s Eve Countdown.’ And the 95x Morning Show was named the Best Music-Format Morning Show in a Small Market; the WBEV Morning Show did get the bronze in the News-Talk category.

WBEV’s late morning BreakTime program received first place for Best Radio Show After 9am. The news department was recognized for News Writing, timely on-the-Spot News Coverage, the Best Newscast and Best Interview.

Dr. Jay Wilkins and Dr. Tom Castillo’s latest clever and cautionary Christmas Carol won for Best Commercial, the eighth time the Singing Eye Doctors of Vita Park Eye Associates earned the gold plaque in the past decade.  WBEV also got the blue ribbon for Best Promotional Announcement and Most Humorous Commercial.

Our sports team was recognized for their coverage of Big Cheese Wheelchair Basketball. The DailyDodge Facebook page was named Best Social Media.

And finally, the Good Karma Brands John Moser Children’s Radiothon was again singled out for its Significant Community Impact.
