(Beaver Dam) Wayland Academy Senior Ethyn Tallman has been named as a Commended Student in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program. Seth Ahlborn, Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Innovation at Wayland Academy made the official announcement.
“Ethyn is a well-rounded student—a tribute to our liberal arts education,” Ahlborn said.
Tallman, a dedicated senior, is one of approximately 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation who are recognized for their commitment to academic excellence.
He was also in the top 50,000 students who took the 2022 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
Tallman is a fully invested and accomplished student at Wayland. He is currently balancing four Advanced Placement (AP) courses with a plethora of extracurricular commitments on a weekly basis.
The Holcombe, Wisconsin native is a trumpet and french horn player in Wayland’s brass section, and he also sings in the a cappella choir.
Tallman participates in cross country, basketball, and baseball, and he is also a member of the school’s Model United Nations (U.N.) program.
