Waupun’s Roecker Heading To State Gymnastics Meet

Waupun sophomore Abby Roecker advanced to WIAA State Gymnastics Tournament on all 4 individual events as well as All Around on Thursday to lead the Warriors to a 4th place finish at Sectionals in West Bend. 

Roecker tied for 2nd on Vault (9.3 – new School Record), took 2nd on Bars (8.9), 4th on Beam (8.925), 2nd on Floor (9.225), and 2nd All Around (36.3 – also new School Record). The top 5 individuals on each event and All Around qualify to the State Meet, as well as the top 2 teams. 

As a team, the lady Warriors finished the competition strong on Bars, breaking the previous school record of 32.35 set at Sectionals in 2020 with a total 32.8. This feat helped propel the Warriors to the new school record team total of 135.725. The previous record was also set at Sectionals in 2020 (134.425).

Posting personal bests throughout the meet were Senior Maddy Falke on both her events; 8.55 on Vault and 8.575 on Floor. Sophomore Lea Johannmeier’s 8.625 on Floor and 8.375 were also bests, and Sophomore Ava Koerner posted a high 8.5 on Vault.

The State Meet will take place next weekend in Wisconsin Rapids, with the team competition on Friday afternoon and individual competition on Saturday morning.
