(Waupun) A Waupun man was arrested over the weekend for being under the influence while behind the wheel during a single vehicle crash. First responders and Fond du Lac County authorities arrived at the crash scene on Savage Road near Whooley Road in the township of Waupun around 6pm Saturday.
Emergency personnel located a 31-year-old woman from Waupun lying next the vehicle. She was flown to the hospital in Neenah with serious injuries. Deputies learned that the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve north of Whooley Road, entered the west ditch, and overturned.
They say that alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash and the 27-year-old driver was arrested. He is facing charges of Causing Injury by Intoxicated Use of a Motor Vehicle. The crash remains under investigation.
