Waupun Team & Watertown’s Hurtgen Head To State Gymnastics Meet

The region will be well represented at this weekend’s 50th WIAA State Gymnastics Meet in Wisconsin Rapids.

For Watertown High School history will be made as Gosling sophomore Megan Hurtgen is the 1st girl ever from the school to qualify for the state meet in the all-around.  Hurtgen qualified for the Division One State Meet by winning the all-around last weekend at the Middleton Sectional.  Hurtgen was 3rd in the beam, 4th in the floor, 3rd in the uneven bars, and 5th in the vault, which qualifies her to compete for medals in those events as an individual as well.

In Division Two, Waupun has qualified for Friday’s team competition with a 2nd place finish at the Mount Horeb Sectional. Senior Isabella Doege has also qualified for D2 individual meet in the all-around, the uneven bars, beam and the floor.

The state team competition is Friday at 1pm while the individual championship is set to begin at 10:30am on Saturday morning at Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids.
