(Waupun) Waupun High School Student Council will be hosting a blood drive Friday at the local fire department. Student Council Vice President Arpad (are-pod) Feher (fear) gives the details on giveaways for those who participate.
“All that come will receive a $10 e-gift card,” says Feher. “You’ll also be entered into a raffle for a three-night New York getaway, with a private shark dive adventure at Long Island Aquarium.”
Another giveaway is a raffle entry into a summer grill package that includes a wireless portable speaker, a 60 quart insulated wheeled cooler, and a standing propane gas grill. Student Representative Ember Wylesky explains the dos and don’ts when donating blood.
“If you are in any sports that are over the summer, or anything like that, check with your coach before you sign up to give blood,” Wylesky says. “There are some coaches though [who] are like ‘yeah no, you’ll have to be banned from that.’ If you’re going to give blood do not do a bunch of vigorous exercises after.”
Wylesky says that doing vigorous exercises before giving blood can cause people to get dizzy and lightheaded. The blood drive will be held from 9am to 2pm at the Waupun Fire Department located at 16 East Main Street. To schedule a blood donation appointment, click HERE.
