Waupun Man Makes Initial Appearance On Felony Fleeing Charges

(Beaver Dam) A Waupun man charged with running from local police has made his initial appearance in court. Michael Heuer is facing a felony count of Fleeing stemming from the January 11th incident.

A Beaver Dam officer observed a vehicle fail to come to a complete stop and use its turn signal while turning from Lake Crest Drive onto Madison Street. Upon activating their emergency lights, the suspect vehicle accelerated away at a high rate of speed.

During the chase, the officer witnessed the vehicle blow through a four-way intersection before calling off the pursuit. The vehicle’s registered owner reportedly informed authorities that an employee of his was using it.

That employee was allegedly identified as Heuer. According to the complaint, Heuer said he was not in control of the vehicle when asked why he fled.

If convicted, the 30-year-old faces up to three-and-a-half years in prison. Cash bond was set at $2,500 and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 4th.
