Waupun Man Heading To Trial For Beaver Dam Police Chase

5/12/17 – A Waupun man will proceed to trial for running from police during a traffic stop in Beaver Dam earlier this month. Kory Forrest waived his right to a preliminary hearing yesterday on a felony count of Fleeing an Officer as well as misdemeanor charges of Bail Jumping and Operating with a Revoked License. Beaver Dam police officers pulled over Forrest and say they smelt a strong odor of intoxicants coming from inside the vehicle. As the officer returned to his squad car to call for backup, Forrest fled from the scene at speeds of up to 100mph. Police deployed a tire deflation device which disabled Forrest’s vehicle on County Road A just north of County Road B. The 29-year-old fled on foot and was eventually caught in a nearby farm field. If convicted, Forrest faces up to five years in prison. An arraignment hearing is scheduled next month.
