Waupun Inmate Arraigned For Prison Guard Assault

(Waupun) An inmate at the Waupun Correctional Institution, accused of assaulting a prison guard, entered a not guilty plea at arraignment Thursday. Ramon Alvarado Jr. is facing one felony count of Battery by Prisoner for the December incident. Alvarado reportedly became argumentative when staff attempted to move him to another cell. He was eventually subdued after corrections officers administered pepper spray. While he was being transported, the inmate continued to verbally assault the staff. According to the criminal complaint, Alvarado said he would (quote), “kill them once he got out.” When removing restraints in the prisoner’s new cell, Alvarado allegedly kicked a guard in the knee. If convicted, the 34-year-old faces up to an additional six years in prison.
