The Waupun boys hockey team is off to a solid 7-4-1 start this season and a 3-2 mark in league play. After Tuesday’s 9-1 win over Fox Cities, the Warriors sit just two points behind Badgerland leader St. Mary’s Springs Academy. Head coach Jason Buccholz has trio of senior skaters who have 20 or more points this season to anchor his offensive attack Malachi Buccholz (17-13-30), Jarrett Buccholz (16-14-30) and Carter Schramm (9-12-21) are all in the top 10 in the conference scoring race. Between the pipes, sophomore goalie Tyler Fromolz has a 7-4-1 record, which includes a 2.51 goals against average. He’s got one shutout and a save percentage of 92.1%
The Warriors will travel to Stevens Point on Thursday before returning home to host Antigo on Saturday afternoon for the 9th annual Pink Out The Rink game. Head coach Jason Buccholz says that this has become a big community event with the rink being packed. The team will wear pink jerseys encourages everyone attending the game to wear pink as well. This year’s beneficiaries are Kim Zwief and Peggy Jahn. There will be basket raffles, a bake sale, chuck-a-puck, a 50-50 raffle and much more.
The JV game will drop the puck at 1pm and the Varsity will face off at 3pm inside the Waupun Community Center.
