Waupun Girls Hoops Meets Kewaskum For Round Three At Sectional

The Waupun High School girls basketball team heads to Lomira on Thursday night for a WIAA Division Three Sectional Semifinal against Kewaskum.  The Warriors (21-3) won the East Central Conference championship for the third straight season and then knocked off Winneconne and Omro to claim the Regional Championship.

Waupun swept Kewaskum (23-3) during the regular season winning 45-27 and 48-34.  Kewaskum’s only other loss this season was to Beaver Dam at their holiday tournament.

Illinois State recruit Abbie Aalsma leads Waupun in scoring at 21.1 points per game while sophomore Kayl Petersen averages 17 points and 10 rebounds. Madilyn Dogs tops Kewaskum in scoring at 13.7 ppg while Annie Christensen is at 12.2.

The winner of Thursday’s game faces either Columbus or Edgewood in the Sectional Final at Wautoma on Saturday afternoon.
