Waupun Football Building Momentum

The Waupun High School football team looks to keep the momentum going after winning their final regular season game in the alternate-fall season. The Warriors went 1-6 during the spring season competing in the Wisconsin Flyway Conference, but went into the short offseason on a high note by snapping the program’s 27 game losing streak with a 21-16 win over North Fond du Lac.

“We got that big monkey off the back by getting the win to end the season.” Head Coach Ron Walters told DailyDodge.com.  “Momentum is carrying forward.  We have strong numbers and we are very excited to get the season started.  There’s a lot of talk around town.  The kids are excited.  They are doing a good job getting in the weight room and going to camps and clinics.”

The Warriors have just under 40 players in their program this season, which is 10 to 15 more than they had in the spring.  Coach Walters likes the work ethic of his squad.

“I really like the dedication and seriousness everyone is taking to practice. We’re not messing around anymore.  We are still having fun but we have work to do and we have business to take care of.”

Waupun opens up their 2021 season on Saturday, August 21st, when they travel to Delafield for a matchup with St. John’s Northwestern Academies.
