Watertown Police Say Suicidal Person Is Being Evaluated By Human Services

(Watertown) A large police presence responded to an address in Watertown Monday morning for a report of a suicidal person. Officials with the Watertown Police Department say they were called to the 10th block of William Street around 8:40am.

They add that those reporting the incident believed the man was armed with a handgun. Authorities immediately established a perimeter and used all available resources to attempt to resolve the situation peacefully. A negotiator and a human service worker were brought on scene to speak with the individual by phone.

Law enforcement say the man eventually exited the residence at approximately 10:50am and was placed in handcuffs without incident. They say he is currently being evaluated by human services professionals. There were no injuries reported.
