(Watertown) A local community center recently underwent a name and location change. Watertown Family Connections is a community-based family resource center for parents with children from newborn to five years old. The agency has benefitted from funds raised during the Good Karma Brands John Moser Children’s Radiothon. Executive director Stephanie Curtis explains the name change.
“What happened and why we did that, is that for so many years we were, you know, a small resource center,’ said Curtis. “When I talk about small, I’m talking about how we just offered some parenting classes, infant massage classes, playgroups, and open gyms.”
Curtis says the name change made sense because of the opportunity received through a grant to create a resource network and connect with families. In addition to a name change, there is a location change as well.
“We’re in a new location, we’re here at the Watertown (Public) Library,” Curtis said. “We’re no longer at the Watertown Area YMCA.”
The reason for the location change is because of their collaboration with the library’s “Talk Read Play” program, an evidence based curriculum for children. The Watertown Public Library is located at 100 South Water Street in Watertown.
