Watertown Man On Work Release Facing Felony Escape Charge

(Watertown) A Watertown man is facing felony Escape charges for allegedly failing to return to the Dodge County Jail while on work release. Michael Gleesing called the jail to report car trouble in August, saying he would be back in a half hour. Multiple attempts by jailers to reach him by phone were unsuccessful. Six hours later, a felony warrant was issued for the 39-year-old’s arrest. Gleesing – who is serving three, consecutive nine month sentences for misdemeanor Theft – was due to be released from the county jail in December of 2020. If convicted, the new charges carry a maximum six-year prison sentence. Gleesing has an initial appearance on the calendar next month.
