12/15/17 – A Watertown man accused of stealing a tractor is heading to to trial. Joseph Bellini waived his right to a preliminary hearing Thursday on one felony count of Burglary as well as a misdemeanor charge of Theft of Movable Property. On August 16, a report was made that a residence in the city of Watertown was burglarized. A John Deere lawn tractor was stolen from a Watertown residence in August and the victims suspected Bellini of taking it. While talking with investigators, the victim received a text from Bellini saying that he was holding the vehicle for ransom because of missing tools. The victim explained to police that months prior, the 27-year-old had been staying at the property in exchange for fixing broken appliances. She said he was not fulfilling his end of the deal, making up excuses like his tools being stolen, so he moved out. If convicted, Bellini faces up to 12-and-a-half-years in prison. An arraignment hearing is scheduled in January.
