Watertown Man Found Guilty Of Burglarizing Apartment

(Watertown) A Watertown man was found guilty Wednesday for his role in burglarizing an apartment. Julio Castro entered a no contest plea to a felony count of Burglary. Twenty-nine-year-old Alexander Mendoza is facing similar charges for his alleged role.

Castro entered the Watertown apartment in September of 2019 to take money and drugs that he believed were there. Police found a metal pipe that was used to smash a garage window to gain entry at the scene which had blood on it. Castro’s DNA was a preliminary match.

When questioned, the 24-year-old admitted to the crime. Mendoza, who allegedly entered the home with Castro, has denied his involvement.

Castrol is facing 12-and-a-half years in prison. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for January 14th.
