Watertown Man Accused Of Fleeing After Striking Bicyclist

(Watertown) A Watertown man was charged Wednesday with striking a bicyclist while driving. Jacob Lynch made his initial appearance in court on a felony count of Hit and Run Involving Injury. Just after 9pm on Tuesday, Watertown police responded to North 4th Street and East Green Street. Upon arrival, a man was lying on the ground with a large pool of blood under him and his bicycle was completely totaled. A tip lead police to Lynch who was leaving a Watertown bar when he was confronted. Lynch at first denied driving but then allegedly told officers that he believed he had struck a trash can. If convicted, Lynch faces nine months in prison. Signature bond was set at $1,000 and a judge will decide next month if there is enough evidence to order a trial.
