Local Racing Community Mourns The Loss Of Jerry Priesgen

(Allenton) The local racing community is mourning the loss of Jerry Priesgen. The 61-year-old was killed in a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 33 and Alpine Drive near Allenton on Monday.

Priesgen, who was from the town of Addison, was stopped and about to turn left onto Alpine Drive around 1:15pm when a second vehicle that was following rear-ended him. His vehicle went into oncoming traffic and was struck by a westbound semi-truck.

Priesgen was flown to Froedtert in Wauwatosa and hospital staff later told authorities that he had died. The drivers of the second vehicle and the semi-truck were not transported by rescue personnel.

Known as the man in the pink hat, Priesgen was a long time MSA official and was a recognizable face at racetracks from Beaver Dam to Slinger. He also served as the MSA competition director from 1999 to 2004.

In a Facebook post, MSA Sprints says Priesgen was instrumental in writing the MSA rule book and procedures. They add that God must have needed a tech person at the Golden Speedway.
