Voyageur Canoe Rides on Fox Lake

The Fox Lake Public Library “Foxy” Friends are sponsoring the Voyageur Canoe rides on Fox Lake.  Started in 2005 the Voyageur canoe rides allow a truly hands-on experience simulating the beginning of exploration of the Fox River by the French and discovering the rich resources and people that lived there.  Riders will engage in role-play as voyageurs, while learning about hardships and daily life as they play a part in the Fur Trade Era from the late 1600s to early 1800s.  The 28 ft. canoe can hold up to 18 people at a time, and riders will each work to help paddle the vessel.  Rides are open to library users of all ages with no one turned away.  There is no fee for the rides but tipping will be accepted.    Rides will be taking off from Riverside Park in Fox Lake on August 23rd starting at 11am and ending at 4 that afternoon. Anyone with questions is encouraged to call Julie Flemming, President of the Fox Lake “Foxy” Friends at 920-928-6094 or email to julieflemming@yahoo.com.
