Volunteers Needed For Beaver Dam Red Kettle Campaign

(Beaver Dam) The Noon Kiwanis Club of Beaver Dam is looking for volunteers to ring bells during this year’s Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign. During the annual effort, volunteers collect funds outside of several area businesses. Rhonda Steiner of the Kiwanis Club details how people can get involved.

“Individuals will be able to ring on what’s called the register-to-ring website. It’s very slick,” said Steiner. “Our schedule will be on that website. So, you get on that website, click ‘Beaver Dam’ and it’s gonna give you the locations and shifts that are available.”

Steiner says all you have to do is fill out your name, phone number, and email address so you can be reminded of your shift. Receiving a text message reminder is also an option.

Steiner details how some of last year’s donations were used by the Salvation Army.

“They provided 478 nights of lodging or housing for people. You know that might mean paying a month’s rent or putting a family up in a hotel for two nights, whatever the case may be,” Steiner said. “They provided food assistance to 168 families.”

Transportation and utilities were other areas where the Salvation Army gave money to last year.

Red Kettles and bell ringing began at Food Pride and Piggly Wiggly the day before Thanksgiving and Walmart, Fleet Farm, and Walgreens began on Black Friday.
