Volunteer Drivers Needed For Beaver Dam Elks Christmas Basket Program

12/23/17 – A holiday event that feeds Dodge County families in need is back for another year.  The Beaver Dam Elks Club is holding its 66th Annual Christmas Basket Program Saturday morning.  Elks members are setting up shop in the Beaver Dam Ford garage on Howard Drive, off North Spring Street, packaging food products.  Once that is done, the group needs volunteers to help distribute the food.  During a recent appearance on WBEV’s Community Comment program, Coordinator Rob Radig said they need two types of volunteers.  One group of volunteers is needed to pack the food over the 8 o’clock hour while another group of volunteers is needed to deliver the baskets starting around 9am. Radig says the program typically serves 550 families and 2,500 individuals each year.  Each box is filled with a variety of holiday meal essentials.  Radig says all the deliveries should be made by late-morning and invites anyone who helps to join the Elks for lunch at St. Katherine Drexel’s Parish Center. The baskets are typically delivered on Christmas Eve unless that lands on a Sunday in case the delivery takes place on Saturday.
