(Watertown) A vehicle drove into the Rock River in Watertown Thursday night. Police were called to the scene near Tivoli Island around 12:55am.
Upon arrival, first responders located a 27-year-old man who was still inside the vehicle. Fire personnel used equipment to extricate the individual from the car. He was then transported to Aurora Summit with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Department of Natural Resources was contacted and the vehicle was removed from the river. Authorities say the individual admitted to drinking and was ultimately arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated Second Offense, Operating after Revocation, Ignition Interlock Violation, in addition to other charges pending conclusion of the investigation.
They add that a search warrant was obtained due to the man refusing an evidentiary chemical test of his blood. No other people were injured during the incident.
