(Van Dyne) A home was completely destroyed by fire early Wednesday morning in the Fond du Lac County town of Van Dyne. Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt says his office received reports of the blaze at N9574 High Street at 4:36am. He says homeowner Diane Becker called 911 to report a fire in the attached garage. Diane and her son were able to safely evacuate and no one was injured. Waldschmidt says the fire was ignited by smoking materials that had been recently consumed in the garage. The Red Cross was called to assist the displaced residents. Assisting at the scene were fire departments from Van Dyne, North Fond du lac, Town of Fond du Lac, Eldorado, Brandon-Fairwater, City of Fond du Lac, Oakfield, Lamartine and Alto.
