Job Description
Overall Purpose/Summary: Under the general direction of the Superintendents, primarily responsible for maintenance, construction and repair of highways, bridges, and associated right-of-ways. Performs manual labor. Operates light to heavy motorized equipment

Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent, experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to accomplish all of the duties and responsibilities of this position.
Must hold and maintain a valid CDL with Type A, B, D and N endorsement.

Other Requirements:
• Knowledge of common construction equipment and materials.
• Knowledge of and ability to use common hand and power tools.
• Knowledge of and ability to operate trucks and other motorized equipment.
• Ability to accurately follow instructions.
• Ability to perform heavy manual work, clean culvert ends and install culverts.
• Ability to work with moderate supervision and be innovative.
• Ability to perform minor mechanical repairs and routine preventative maintenance.
• Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with other persons.
• Must meet the requirements of Dodge County Driver Qualification Program.

**SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be available for emergency call-in 24 hours a day/7 days a week as requested by supervisor.

Starting Wage Range: $18.59/hr. – $24.19/hr. (Dodge County Labor Grade Four (4))

Job Description
  Overall Purpose/Summary:
Under the general direction of Shop Superintendent, performs skilled work in preventive maintenance and mechanical repair of gasoline, diesel and other power-driven equipment.

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED equivalent, basic computer skills, five (5) years of experience repairing heavy trucks, construction and maintenance equipment specifically diesel/gasoline engines electrical problems and hydraulic systems . Equivalent combination of education and experience which provides necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Must possess a valid CDL with Class A, B, D, and N endorsement.

Other Requirements:
• Knowledge of standard practices, methods, tools, and materials used in mechanical trades and the maintenance/repair of light/heavy automotive, construction and
maintenance equipment.
• Knowledge of safety hazards and relevant safety precautions.
• Knowledge of theory, care, and operation of gasoline and diesel engines.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical troubles and determine appropriate maintenance, repair, or replacement work.
• Ability to work from technical drawings, sketches, and broken parts, and to fabricate non-standard, specialized equipment.
• Ability to use an engine analyzer and laptop computer and PC.
• Ability to accurately follow instructions and work well with others.
• Ability to keep simple records, log repairs and track work costs.
• Must meet requirements of Dodge County Driver Qualification Policy.
• Must have forklift certification.
• Must furnish your own hand tools.
