United Way Taps Local Entity to Develop Self-Care Courses

(Beaver Dam) University of Wisconsin Extension Dodge County has been tapped by The United Way to offer professional development courses for early childcare educators on self-care. Pattie Carroll, an associate professor at the university extension, is teaching those courses.

“I am teaching two early childhood educators a program on self-care,” Carroll says, “So, one is called ‘Stress 101’ and then its ‘Self-Care 101.”

Carroll says that early childcare educators have just as much stress as those working other jobs. She encourages any early child educators interested in teaching these courses in their respective areas to reach out.

“If you are a childcare director and you’re sitting there, or you’re a childcare worker, and you’re listening to me right now and you would like to offer this class in your center,” Carroll says, “give my office a call and we can schedule some trainings.”

She says scheduling for those interested is likely 2023 because November and December are booked due to the holiday season.
