(Horicon) Hunters young and old will have the opportunity to experience a once in a lifetime duck hunt on the Horicon National Wildlife Refuge. Thirty applicants will be randomly selected on August 29 to participate in the Learn to Hunt Waterfowl Program which will take place this fall. First time applicants will be given priority over those who have participated in past events. The hunts will be mentored by experienced waterfowl hunters with one mentor per hunter. Applicants are not required to have completed hunter education certification but they must complete a mandatory four hour orientation and training session. The class will include waterfowl identification, gun safety, water safety, duck calling, range estimation and hunting tactics. Applicants will be notified by phone on August 31 if their name was drawn and must pay a $15 non-refundable registration fee. No applicants under 10-years of age can apply.
