Union Pacific’s ‘Big Boy’ Making Stop In Friesland

(Friesland) The world’s largest operating steam locomotive will be in the region Thursday morning. The Union Pacific Big Boy No. 4014 is part of the 150th anniversary of the transcontinental railroad. There were 25 built but the 133-foot-long restored engine is the only Big Boy locomotive still in operation. The Big Boy will be in Friesland at 9:45am Thursday before departing at 10:30am. The train started and will end its Midwestern trip in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Other stops include Superior, Baldwin, Merrillan, Warrens, Adams and Butler.
