Unemployment Rates Drop in the Region

(Dodge County) Jobless claims in the region have been on a steady decline over the last several months. The state Department of Workforce Development says the unemployment rate in Dodge County last month was 1.5-percent, down from the 1.8-percent logged in October. Last year the figure was 3.3-percent.  The county was ranked 6th in Wisconsin for unemployment rates, no change from October. Fond du Lac County also saw a drop in their rate from October to November from 1.9-percent to 1.5-percent. In 2020, the figure was at 3.5-percent. Columbia County saw their October unemployment, 1.9-percent, drop to 1.6-percent in November. A year ago, the county reported a rate of 3.7-percent. There was a one-fourths decrease in Jefferson as last month saw a 1.6-percent, the month prior it was at 2-percent. The 2020 rate was 3.5-percent. Statewide jobless numbers fell to 3-percent, a number not seen since before the pandemic began.
