Ultralight Plane Crash Victims Identified

8/10/17 – The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says two people are dead after a plane crashed into the Rock River Tuesday night. Officials say an ultralight aircraft crashed into the river near Fort Atkinson’s municipal airport along County Highway K at around 8pm Tuesday. Sheriff Paul Milbrath says the ultralight took off from the airport and went down for unknown reasons. Upon arrival, emergency personnel said the ultralight was almost completely submerged and the two occupants were unconscious. Recreational boaters in the area assisted with retrieving the pilot and passenger. Lifesaving attempts were unsuccessful. The two people killed have been identified as 51-year-old David Plambeck of Edgerton and his 16-year-old passenger Max Burlingame of Fort Atkinson. The teen was a friend of the pilot’s family. The cause of the crash is under investigation by the sheriff’s office, the state Department of Natural Resources and the Federal Aviation Administration.
