Two People Arrested For Burglarizing Property Owned By CarQuest In Newport

(Newport) Two people were arrested for attempting to burglarize a property owned by a car parts store in the township of Newport on Monday. The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office were contacted at 8:30pm by an employee of CarQuest who noticed an open entry door and items were outside a maintenance shed. The employee observed a female look out of the open door and as the individual drove near the shed, a man and a woman ran away towards State Highway 16. Law enforcement officers from Wisconsin Dells and the Wisconsin State Patrol, assisted the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office in searching for the suspects. While re-examining the scene, a stolen vehicle out of Lake Delton was found and connected to the suspects. Inside were burglary tools, drug paraphernalia, handcuffs, knives, numerous cellphones and a realistic looking airsoft pistol. 34-year-old Jamie Price of Mauston and 41-year-old Tonya Podoll of Baraboo were arrested in the surrounding area. Price and Podoll were tentatively charged with Criminal Trespass, Burglary and Criminal Damage and both had outstanding warrants.
