(West Point) Two people were injured following a two-vehicle crash in the Township of West Point Thursday afternoon. Columbia County authorities were dispatched to Highway 60 just before noon. The initial investigation showed that a Chevrolet Silverado heading southbound was hauling rock with an unsecured wheelbarrow on top. The wheelbarrow fell off and into the eastbound lane of traffic, causing a Toyota to serve to the right and onto the gravel. The Toyota overcorrected, veered into the path of a westbound Kenworth semi with a box trailer, and the vehicles collided. Sherriff Roger Brandner says the Kenworth had swerved right in an attempt to avoid the collision and overturned in the north ditch. He says drivers of the Kenworth and Toyota were transported to area hospitals with injuries. The operator of the Chevrolet was uninjured.
