Tuesday Is Election Day

(Dodge County) Tuesday is Election Day. We’ll have national coverage beginning at 6pm on 95.3 WBEV. Once the polls close at 8pm, we will also have local election coverage with a focus on the Beaver Dam mayoral race, the Beaver Dam School District referendum question, as well as the contested state assembly and congressional seats.

For those voting Tuesday, be aware that electioneering is not allowed near or inside polling places.

“Voters and observers should certainly be prepared that as you head to the polls that you should not participate in electioneering that is prohibited under Wisconsin law,” says Wisconsin Elections Administrator Meagan Wolfe. “So you should not be coming in wearing apparel or displays that advocate for a position or a candidate on the ballot.”

Voters or observers making partisan displays or wearing campaign garb may be asked to leave, although Wolfe says elections inspectors have discretion in such instances.

“But really the goal is to not cause a disturbance, right? And so sometimes the election inspectors, within their statutory discretion, will say, you know, let’s just get this person in. Let’s have them vote and let’s get them out so that it doesn’t cause a scene.”

Those who have not registered to vote, can still do so Tuesday. When you come to the polls to register be sure to bring proof of residence like a delivered letter or a utility bill and your photo ID. You need to have lived in your location for 28 days to be eligible to vote in that district.

If you are a college student, you can use your college ID and something that proves your enrollment status. Just be sure you are only voting in Wisconsin.
