A 92-year-old male was able to exit the home on his own and a Dodge County deputy was able to rescue an 82-year-old female. Beaver Dam paramedics treated and transported the female to Marshfield Medical Center Beaver Dam; she later died from her injuries. Watertown EMS treated and transported the male to Marshfield. At last word, he was being treated for his injuries. No firefighter injuries were reported but one deputy was treated for smoke exposure.
Fire Chief Alan Mannel says a rural firefighting operation was initiated and the flames were extinguished with several hose lines. Units from fire departments in Juneau, Randolph, Lowell, Horicon, Burnett, and Fox Lake assisted at the scene. Mayville EMS and Hustisford Fire provided coverage for the city. The Beaver Dam Auxiliary was also activated. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office and the State Fire Marshall.
