Tornado Warning Triggered In Dodge, Columbia, Dane Counties

10/7/17 – A Tornado Warning was issued for Dodge County Saturday evening and allowed to expire a half hour later. However, that same storm brought damage to the Madison area also triggering warnings in Columbia and Dane counties. The National Weather Service issued the warning shortly after 5pm indicating that it was radar indicated, traveling northeast along the Highway 151 corridor. Dodge County Emergency Director Amy Nehls tells us that a law enforcement official confirmed seeing a tornado touch down on Madison’s east side and the Sun Prairie area. The Wisconsin State Patrol reported that debris closed both the northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 151, known as East Washington Street inside city limits, near Stoughton Road, specifically at Mendota Street and Ridgeway Avenue. No injuries occurred but media reports indicate there were uprooted trees and downed power lines. The system lost steam as it approached the Columbus area though there were heavy showers as the storm advanced through Dodge County.
