(Juneau) Today is the deadline to pay your second installment property tax bill and if you waited this long, it may not be as easy as just dropping it in the mail. Dodge County Treasurer Patti Hilker says local mail is routed through Milwaukee and is no longer automatically postmarked at local post offices, which means it will likely be postmarked late even though it was mailed on time. If you can’t drive to the Treasurer’s Office in Juneau at 127 East Oak Street, payments can be made with a credit or debit card online or by calling an 800-number (www.officialpayments.com or 800-272-9829 with the jurisdiction code #5936). There are additional fees to pay online or by phone. Taxpayers mailing after the deadline are subject to interest and a penalty of 10.5%…and for the second installment that is retroactive to February 1. Hilker also recommends taxpayers check the balance of their first installment receipt to ensure proper payment because the second payment is not necessarily the same as the first.
