‘Superfast’ Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Installed In Beaver Dam

(Beaver Dam) Electric vehicle owners have a new charging station in Beaver Dam. The ribbon was cut Tuesday at the Park Village Shopping Center, right near the Highway 33 and Highway 151 interchange.

“Located at one of the busiest intersections between Madison and the Fox Valley, Park Village Shopping Center is proud to be at the forefront of technological innovations,” said David Keller, partner, Keller Real Estate Group. “We look forward to the positive impact the level-3 fast charger will have on the success of the merchants and visitors’ enjoyment of Park Village Shopping Center, home to the annual ‘Beaver Dam Pepper Fest’ celebration.”

The station can charge four cars at one time. It has a pair of Level-Two chargers along with a pair of Level-Three chargers, which would be the only Level-Three chargers between Sun Prairie and the Fox Valley. The superfast chargers can bring a fully depleted electric vehicle (EV) battery back to 80-percent strength in about a half hour. David de Leon, President of Alliant Energy Wisconsin, says the charging station makes Beaver Dam a driving destination for the growing number of EV owners on the road.

“This cleaner energy solution gets EVs back on the road at half the cost of traditional fuels,” he says.

Alliant Energy estimates the cost to charge your car to the equivalent of one gallon of gas at one dollar. Officials in Beaver Dam say the initiative aligns with the city’s Energy Independent Community Plan by working toward energy conservation, efficiencies and the use of renewable energy.

The chargers are located closest to Piggly Wiggly, where store owners Daryl and Brenda Schoenfeld say they are excited about the progressive technological addition to the beautiful east side of Beaver Dam.
