Sun Prairie Man Sentenced To 35 Years In Prison For Assaulting Beaver Dam Minor

(Beaver Dam) A Sun Prairie man was sentenced to 35 year in prison Friday for having inappropriate contact with a minor from Beaver Dam. In January, Albert Gonzales entered a no contest plea to a felony charge of Repeated Sexual Assault of the Same Child and two counts of Child Sexual Exploitation. Several additional charges of Possession of Child Pornography were dismissed but read into the record. It all started when a 16-year-old told police that she was in a relationship with Gonzales in 2017. According to the criminal complaint, the 26-year-old was also said to have been with a 13-year-old. The victims provided incriminating social media messages and a search warrant of his Facebook page uncovered numerous other attempts to lure young girls. At sentencing, Assistant District Attorney James Sempf said he would characterize the defendant’s behavior has monstrous. He adds that the court has no choice but to put this individual in prison in order to protect the rest of us; especially our children. Gonzales was also placed on probation for 25 years.
