Sullivan Man Accused Of Running From Cops While High On LSD

(Beaver Dam) A Sullivan man made is initial appearance in a Dodge County courtroom Monday for fleeing from Beaver Dam police. Victor Kleinschmidt is charged with one felony count of Attempting to Flee or Elude an Officer. On Sunday (June 16), an officer responded to a report that an SUV was traveling northbound on North University Avenue at roughly 50-miles-per-hour with its rear-bumper hanging off. Police spotted the vehicle but when they active their emergency lights it accelerated away. The officer ran the SUV’s plates which was reportedly registered to Kleinschmidt. At one point, law enforcement allegedly clocked Kleinschmidt going approximately 65-to-70-miles-per-hour on North Spring Street. The vehicle came to a stop just south of Industrial Drive and after reportedly ignoring several verbal commands Kleinschmidt was taken into custody. According to the criminal complaint, officers believed the 25-year-old had taken LSD and, when confronted by law enforcement, Kleinschmidt would ask questions about (quote) “God and death.” If convicted, Kleinschmidt faces no more than three-and-a-half years in prison. Cash bond was set at $500 and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 3.
