(Waupun) A street repair project in Waupun scheduled to begin this spring is being delayed until 2022. The proposed project will see Madison Street, between Doty Street and Lincoln Street, receive reconstruction of existing roadway with an urban roadway section including curb and gutter, bike lanes, sidewalk, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and water main. In addition, driveways, service walks, and lawn areas will also be removed and replaced as necessary to accommodate construction needs. At a recent Common Council meeting, Director of Public Works Jeff Daane explained the delay to the council, saying that bidding requirements had not been met by the projects deadline. This in turn will require the project designs to be updated to meet newer Department of Transportation 2022 specifications.
This amends the city’s current contract dated April 30th of 2019 and cost the city an additional $5,970 paid to project design partner Gremmer & Associates, bringing that cost to a total of $82,945.
