(Madison) State Patrol troopers from Jefferson and Washington Counties are among 21 troopers statewide who were recognized Wednesday for their exemplary service. Trooper Steven Lindemann of Oconomowoc was presented with a Lifesaving Award for preventing a suicide attempt on the Interstate last November. Lindemann stopped for what he thought was a disabled vehicle and prevented the seemingly incoherent driver from walking into traffic. As he approached a potential witness, the driver left the squad car and again wandered into traffic before he was restrained until rescue personnel arrived. Trooper Kristian Pereles of West Bend was presented with the Third Lifesaving Award of his nine-year career when he successfully resuscitated a man who had collapsed of a heart attack on a golf course near Kewaskum in June. The ceremony was held Wednesday at the State Capitol.
