State Representative Born Talks New Assembly Maps

(Beaver Dam) The Wisconsin State Legislature has adopted new maps for its assembly districts. Mark Born says there is a variety of changes for him.

“The first one being the numbers for some of us,” says Born. “So, technically I’m still the representative from the 39th [District] until January 6, and then when the new session starts, I will become the representative for the 37th Assembly District.”

Born says that district makes up the northern part of Dodge County and most of southern Fond du Lac County. He adds there are also changes in the caucus.

“With the change in maps brought fewer member to the Republican caucus,” Born says. “We were 64 members this last session and we’re down to 54 now. So, that changes the dynamic a bit. There’s less votes to give so to speak.”

The representative says that means he must now find 49 other members to agree with him on a piece of legislature out of 54, instead of the original 64.
