(Dodge County) Wisconsin health officials reported 821 positive cases of coronavirus in Wednesday’s daily update, which is 5.9-percent of the 13,100 tests announced. There are 7,972 active cases in the state, up 172 from Tuesday. Active cases make up over 20-percent of the 38-thousand people who have tested positive to date. So far, there have been nearly 30-thousand recoveries.
State health officials recorded one more death yesterday, bringing that number to 827. Deaths accounted for 2.1-percent of all cases in Wisconsin while 10.1-percent of those known to have contracted the virus needed to be hospitalized.
Dodge County has five deaths on record and 537 cases, an increase of nine from Tuesday. The county had 324 negative tests returned for a running total of 12,450. Public health officials in Dodge County are actively monitoring 54 people while 244 have recovered.
Washington County has 19 deaths on record along with 510 positive cases. Fond du Lac County has six deaths to date and 405 positive tests. Jefferson County has four deaths and 384 cases. There has been one death in Columbia County where there have been 129 positive cases. Green Lake County has 43 cases.
Two Dodge County prisons have reported additional coronavirus cases since Monday according to the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
Waupun Correctional, which has had the most positive tests among inmates in the state, has announced one more case and now has 229 confirmed cases; over 200 of those cases were reported in early June. The facility has reported 22 staff members to date with COVID-19, also most in Wisconsin, unchanged from recent updates.
At nearby Dodge Correctional, two more inmates have tested positive since Monday and that number now stands at 11. The prison has had three employees with coronavirus.
